What is ECE Regulation 116?
The ECE R116 standard is a European regulation that sets requirements.
to security systems in vehicles. This standard is designed to better protect vehicles and their contents against theft. For cargo space security, this means that systems must demonstrate that they effectively contribute to securing commercial vehicles and vans. During the certification, the following are examined, among other things:
- the reliability of the security system;
- operation under various conditions;
- durability in daily use;
- the effectiveness against attempts at unauthorized access.
By complying with this standard, a system demonstrates that it
is suitable for professional use in commercial vehicles and logistics applications.
Independent tests by TÜV NORD
The tests for the ECE R116 approval of Carbolt systems were carried out by TÜV NORD. This internationally recognized testing organization is known as a renowned testing laboratory.
During the test phase, extensive checks are carried out to assess whether the Carbolt 103 system functions reliably and meets the requirements of the ECE R116 directive. This involves examining the performance of the cargo compartment security in realistic operating situations. Only when a system successfully completes all test procedures can it be officially approved in accordance with the ECE R116 standard.
Carbolt's cargo compartment security products have been developed with this practice in mind. By using systems tested according to the ECE R116 standard and assessed by TÜV NORD, Carbolt offers a solution that combines reliability with professional safety requirements.
